The Australian open tennis is one of the most challenging of all the Grand Slam tournaments due to the often extreme hot weather that often descends on Melbourne each January when the tournament is played. Being the first Grand Slam Tennis Tournament on the international tennis calendar the tournament attracts most of the big name players on the international circuit regardless of the heat. The temperature can easily reach, and often exceed, 40 degrees Celsius. Management of the Australian Open Tennis tournament have included various 'heat clauses' in the tournament rules as well as installing a retractable roof over the main court that can be closed if the heat becomes to extreme or rain threatens play. The main stadium for the Australian Open is Rod Laver Arena, named after the only person, and an Australian, to have twice won all four Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments in one year. Throughout its history, heavy metal has done well to avoid pretense. Bands sung about topics like slaying dragons, chasing women, and partying. Then, at some point during the 1990s, the cancer of nu metal started to metastasize in the heavy metal genre. Bands started singing about relationships and their feelings in an effort to gain mainstream popularity. Rip Off London
I'm in London this week and I'll be lucky if I'll break even. I'll probably make a small loss. There is no reason that gigs in London should pay any less than gigs around the rest of the country but they do and they pay considerably less.


If you live out of town like me then coming to London is like taking a 50% cut in wages.


Tonight I'm being paid £80 for a gig that's going to cost me about £80 to do.


The only justification for the low wages is the fact you can work for more clubs in a night in London.


This is the argument. We'll rip you off because you can go and get ripped off several times in one night and end up with about the same amount of money you would have been paid for one gig out of town.

Hello Tom, An old story now, but even so I would like to congratulate you for switching orrrff the most Boring programme ever screened and presented on radio. It is boring, and yet you were presumably sacked because you were so outspoken. Irrational listeners wrote that you were disrespectful to that most frightful of people Elizabeth Battenberg. On the other hand look at what she, her dysfunctional 'family' of spongers and the monarchy have denied the people over decades. She didn't pay tax until pressurised to do so - nice for some. She acted above the law, stopping a trial that might reveal damaging stuff about one of her orrffspring - nice for some!Incidentally the BBC axed the original Mastermind when it reached a low of six million viewers. When this BORING Queen's speech had only 3, million, the sycophantic BBC kept it going. How boring, how undemocratic, how people unfriendly!
