Here's some news of people that aren’t Tom Binns While there are a number of challenging tracks on the NASCAR stock car racing circuit, few have earned the fearsome reputation of South Carolina's Darlington Raceway. Known as 'the track too tough to tame', its shaped like an egg with a surface that shreds tires. Some of the best drivers--including NASCAR's 'King' Richard Petty never mastered it. David Person, on the other hand, dominated at Darlington. He won 10 races and won 12 poles--both records that will likely never be broken. He actually made the 'track too tough to tame' look downright easy. David Pearson was born on December 22, 1934 in Whitney, SC"a textile town near Spartanburg. Like most of the locals, his parents worked in the local cotton mill and did their best to provide. David quit school after the 10th grade and went to work in the mill. Rip Off London
I'm in London this week and I'll be lucky if I'll break even. I'll probably make a small loss. There is no reason that gigs in London should pay any less than gigs around the rest of the country but they do and they pay considerably less.


If you live out of town like me then coming to London is like taking a 50% cut in wages.


Tonight I'm being paid £80 for a gig that's going to cost me about £80 to do.


The only justification for the low wages is the fact you can work for more clubs in a night in London.


This is the argument. We'll rip you off because you can go and get ripped off several times in one night and end up with about the same amount of money you would have been paid for one gig out of town.

Hello Tom, An old story now, but even so I would like to congratulate you for switching orrrff the most Boring programme ever screened and presented on radio. It is boring, and yet you were presumably sacked because you were so outspoken. Irrational listeners wrote that you were disrespectful to that most frightful of people Elizabeth Battenberg. On the other hand look at what she, her dysfunctional 'family' of spongers and the monarchy have denied the people over decades. She didn't pay tax until pressurised to do so - nice for some. She acted above the law, stopping a trial that might reveal damaging stuff about one of her orrffspring - nice for some!Incidentally the BBC axed the original Mastermind when it reached a low of six million viewers. When this BORING Queen's speech had only 3, million, the sycophantic BBC kept it going. How boring, how undemocratic, how people unfriendly!
