Australian Tennis Open 2010

This Spring Tom Binns will be in Australia performing at the Adelaide Arts Festival. The Australian open tennis is one of the most challenging of all the Grand Slam tournaments due to the often extreme hot weather that often descends on Melbourne each January when the tournament is played. Being the first Grand Slam Tennis Tournament on the international tennis calendar the tournament attracts most of the big name players on the international circuit regardless of the heat. The temperature can easily reach, and often exceed, 40 degrees Celsius. Management of the Australian Open Tennis tournament have included various 'heat clauses' in the tournament rules as well as installing a retractable roof over the main court that can be closed if the heat becomes to extreme or rain threatens play. The main stadium for the Australian Open is Rod Laver Arena, named after the only person, and an Australian, to have twice won all four Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments in one year. The Australian Tennis Open is held in January each year at the Melbourne Tennis Stadium. Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena are the two main courts with other matches played on the outer courts. The other international grand...

The Dominator Of Darlington: David Pearson

Here's some news of people that aren’t Tom Binns While there are a number of challenging tracks on the NASCAR stock car racing circuit, few have earned the fearsome reputation of South Carolina's Darlington Raceway. Known as 'the track too tough to tame', its shaped like an egg with a surface that shreds tires. Some of the best drivers--including NASCAR's 'King' Richard Petty never mastered it. David Person, on the other hand, dominated at Darlington. He won 10 races and won 12 poles--both records that will likely never be broken. He actually made the 'track too tough to tame' look downright easy. David Pearson was born on December 22, 1934 in Whitney, SC"a textile town near Spartanburg. Like most of the locals, his parents worked in the local cotton mill and did their best to provide. David quit school after the 10th grade and went to work in the mill. It wasnt long, however, before his love of cars and racing made him leave the mill life behind. He bought a car and began racing at short tracks in the upstate. He ran his first race on 9/19/52 in Woodruff South Carolina. Within a few years, he won his first...

Enjoy Shopping Heaven In London!

London offers a world of shopping opportunities! So what is your best option if you're short of time? If you're visiting London for a short break, why not go to one of the city's big "department stores" to do all your shopping under a single roof? Here's an insider's guide to the best stores in London where you're guaranteed to have a great time: Harrods Everybody knows Harrods! It's like being a kid in a toyshop where you can happily lose yourself for many hours. The Food Hall is a special favourite - you can taste a proper Italian "gelato" if you deserve a proper treat. Although Harrods can be pricey it's a bundle of fun, even just for window-shopping! Liberty Liberty is well-known for dressmaking but is in fact a general department store. It's not particularly well-organised as a store but that is also why it's so charming. The homewares department is a highlight. This store is in the heart of London near Regent Street. Selfridges Selfridges is heaven for the fashion-conscious and all those who want to browse their favourite designer brands like Tom Binns under one roof. Don't miss the store's flamboyant window displays on Oxford Street....
